TONY WALKER WORKSHOPS – COPYRIGHT RESERVED BY THE ARTIST

watercolour (and acrylic) workshops for artists of all levels

 'pathway to watercolour' series
                                                            with    Tony Walker

Enjoy a free and expressive approach to creating with watercolour. Skills and techniques tutoring covers composition, negative space, saving white, washes, granulation, tonal and colour balance, drawing, perspective, and figures in the landscape. Explore the materials, including types of paper, various brushes, palette choices and more. Experience working directly from the subject – ‘plein air’ - getting the ‘essentials’ onto paper.  Review selection of subject and ways of using references such as photos and field sketches.
Interpretation is an integral component – how to express your vision in your work.

Whether you are realist or have an abstract approach, this workshop is aimed to improve technical skills as well as insight into the art, and in the process you will create work to take home and frame.

                                                                              Description: tony and students

Medium: ‘Watercolour’ can be purely the transparent medium or can include the use of acrylic on paper if the art group wishes. This refers to using acrylic is as a medium to add substance or opacity to a watercolour technique.

Subject matter may be landscape or may include the figure/face depending on the group’s desires. Similarly it is anticipated that the group may like to participate in some periods of plein air painting.

The workshop presentation is assisted by the use of projection and video. This facilitates instruction and enables the presentation of tutorial slides as well as images providing a wide range of subject matter.

Workshops are available at venues at Noosavile on the Sunshine Coast and Alderley in Brisbanes as morning or afternoon classes once a week. Groups may also arrange two day workshops or other periods by arrangement.
